If you are using Networks, then you could experience the benefits of having a network. Sometimes you must have felt that your Windows is not accessing the shared folders as quickly as it should. There can be loads of things that can hamper the speed of your networks. So what should you do? Well, here is some solution to your problem, these including changing the values in Registry, if you are comfortable with, then only use these.

  1. Remove current shortcuts in My Network Places
  2. Make these changes in Registry
    • Go to Start –> Run –> Regedit
    • Go to HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. In here create a new DWORD Value named “NoRecentDocsNetHood” and give a Binary value as 1. This will make sure that the shared folder don’t get added in the Network places even by accessing it.
  3. Make these Additions as well
    • Go to Registry, and go to path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters.
    • Add a DWORD key with Key name as “SizReqBuf”, and give an Hexadecimal value as FFFF. This will increase the data buffered at one time which is send ti client.

Try these only if you are comfortable with editing Registry. If not use any Registry Editing Software.
