Using Windows Backup Utility - Part 2

Welcome to the second part of Using Windows Backup utility - Part 2. Today, I will be going to the next part of this tool, i.e. Restoration. After you have backed up your files, you should also be able to restore them in case you require to.
These are the simple steps in restoring files and folders.

  1. This time when you open backup utility, click “Restore Wizard
  2. Now you need to select the files and folders from tree view, and click next
  3. Again you will see the wizard ending up, but click “Advanced…
  4. Now select the location where you want to restore files to, Original Location or Alternate location

  5. Restoration Wizard

  6. Then select the restore options, from 3 options provided. Leave existing files which would prevent files from being overwritten and is safest mode of restoring files, Replacing existing files if they are older then the backup files and replace existing files which would replace all files on your hard drive with the files in the backup copy
  7. Click Next and then Finish to get the files restored

If you are using a NTFS partition, then will be given an option to set advanced restore options, including restoring security settings and some more.
